Organization

2 min read
For the past hour or so I've been organizing my favorites again. Everything that was on the front page is now in a folder, the 'other' folder is now 2 or 3 pages less then it was before and I've just realized that I have a bit of a problem. Looking at my favorites, one might think, 'oh, this person is very organized! Now I can very easily see what I might be interested in and not have to deal with what I'm not!' The truth, however, is that I am very, very, messy and lazy, and that most of the work put into my favorites is done because I either don't want to go to sleep yet or I don't want to clean my room.

For the Curious:

Total number of folders: 28

The two newest editions: Sherlock and Star Trek

Largest Folder: Other (18 pages)
Largest Specific Folder: Transformers (12 pages)

Smallest Folder: Psychonauts - 12 pieces (and not for lack of trying, I'm always looking for good art/fics if anyone knows of any!)
Second Smallest Folder: Twilight - 15 pieces (I hate the books, but the idea behind the story was good, and there is some really good art out there!)

Priorities: I have them.

Lithography

1 min read
Learning some new developing processes in Photography lately, my teacher is crazy/insane/genius. Lately we've been doing 'lith photography', which is pretty cool. It's basically overexposing the image then only partially developing it. In Dark Angel 001 I used a 5 filter (filters being what helps add either gray tones or contrast to a black and white image-00 being all gray tones and 5 the most contrast possible). On top of that the subject was asked to wear all black and sit in front of a white back drop for the most contrast possible. This, combined with the 5 filter and lith developing process, gave the final print the ultimate 'freaky' look.

For the curious, here's a link i found that goes very in depth about the process, the history, the chemicals involved and even a few examples of it:

Fanfiction

2 min read
Posted my first fanfiction to this site (not my first in general, just the first to this site) feels a bit weird to be honest, I wasalways careful to make sure I kept my fanfiction and my original stuff at completely different ends of the internet when I can help it (for some reason a lot of original writers on the internet hate on fanfiction, and I really don't want to deal with that. But I digress)

It's a Sherlock fanfiction, angsty not-romance. Because the day I write any kind of story with no angst in it is the day you lot know that I've either been abducted by aliens or have suffered an accident of some sort and thus high off of pain killers. (but it's why you lot love me...though no one gave me internet hugs yesterday and that was rater sad)

Honestly though, I really don't understand why people hate on fanfiction. I was writing it for years before I started getting into original stuff. It's a good platform to test the waters and develop your writing style. An exercise in keeping characters in character and keeping those characters consistant, a way to figure out what works and what doesn't work in terms of plot devise and dialouge.

You learn to draw by copying what you see, you learn to create music by practicing what others have already created, you learn to create recipes by cooking things others have already made. What makes writing so different that fanfiction is treated like a dirty word? And those who write it treated like hormonal teenage girls who like homosexual men (because face it, if there's one sterotype about fanfiction writers it's that.)? If anythig creating a good fanfiction is much more difficult to create then an original fiction. With an original people have no expectation about what you write, with fanfiction everyone has their own idea how a character should be portrayed and a fanfiction writer must make an impact on people ready to dismiss them simply for not writing characters the way he/she sees they should be written.

So there's my rant on fanfiction, I still won't post it here often but now that I have I might do so more often.

online hugs

1 min read
I've been reading through some of my old comment, trying to find my footing in the writing world again (last year of school, too much work) andI have found that I recieve a lot of internet hugs. For some reason, this pleases me greatly. Please, bring on the internet hugs for they are warm in all their pixilated glory.

EDIT: also, not liking the new style of journals very much. Also, expect new writing from me soon. Hopefully. I'm getting that niggling feeling where I know if I don't write something creative that my head will explode, but it's still in the nesting stage, not quite ready to hatch yet. give it time. And Sulfuric Acid, because H2SO4 makes everything better...

By now I'm sure most of you have seen the dA new report on the malware that's infected dA, well after studiously avoiding this site for about 2 months I felt it safe to come back and check, and, sure enough, I saw the news report. About 2 months ago my computer caught a bad virus due to the malware problems dA was having at the time, after nearly losing my computer to the darned thing, I decided to avoid dA for some time until I could be reasonably sure someone with better virus protection and someone who actually knew how could report the problem and dA could be their awesome selves and eliminate the malware.

So this is really just a short missive to tell you all that I'm fine and that I haven't just stopped writing or taking photos, I've just been avoiding dA due to the malware problems that attacked my computer some months ago. And I will continue to avoid dA for another month or so until I feel reasonably secure that my computer is safe (as last time the malware got through my firewalls and other means of protection and I simply cannot afford to have someone else clean up a virus for me). So never fret, I will be back, I'm just typing this now to alert those who may be concerned of why I've been so inactive these past few months. Hopefully with dA now aware of the problem I can tentavily return to my previous rate of activity.

What have I been doing to occupy myself in all this time, you may ask? Two Words:

Star Trek
